What is an Easter Egger? Although not a breed, these wonderful chickens lay an assortment of beautiful eggs. Easter Eggers are a cross between a rooster that carries the blue egg gene and any breed of hen. The blue egg gene crossed with hens that lay different colored eggs will produce a hen that can lay a blue to various shades of green, even as dark as an olive egg. These chicks will add some variety to your flock, while donating about five eggs per week to your collection. They are cold hardy and an all-around great chicken. These chickens are some of my favorite to have around.
